Linear Welding & Fabrication: The Waxahachie Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Linear-compatible welding and fabrication parts for gate systems across Waxahachie, with most bracket, hinge, and mount repairs running $180 to $460 installed. Same-day service is available in most cases, and our trucks carry the common Linear weld plates, hinge brackets, and gate frame repairs that fail first in Texas heat and shifting clay soil. What owners usually notice first is a gate that sags toward the latch side, scrapes the driveway, or swings a few inches past where it used to stop. The welds holding the hinge brackets to the post or the gate frame have begun to let go, and every cycle works a little more metal loose.

Which Linear Models This Applies To

Linear gate operators are built around a couple of core chassis lines: the LRA slide-gate series, the swing-arm LSO series, and the heavy-duty APeX and MegaCode-receiver families that pair with them. The welding and fabrication work we do is rarely inside the operator itself. It is the steel the operator pushes against: hinge brackets welded to brick or steel columns, gate frames that have cracked at stress points, slide-gate trucks and track mounts that have pulled free of the concrete. If you have a Linear operator on a gate that is more than about eight years old in this part of Texas, the operator is probably fine and the metal around it is what needs attention.

To identify what you have, look for the model tag on the operator chassis, usually a white sticker near the release handle. But the part that needs fabrication is measured, not looked up: hinge bracket bolt spacing, gate leaf weight, post material, and how far the gate has dropped. For Linear specifically, the factory mounting brackets that ship with LSO swing arms are thinner gauge than what we fabricate in-house. The OEM part does the job when everything is square and new. Once a post has shifted half an inch in Ellis County soil, an aftermarket bracket built 1/8-inch thicker and gusseted at the corner lasts a lot longer. We make that call on-site, with you standing there, so you know why one part gets used over another.

We are an independent service provider and not affiliated with Linear or its parent brands. We service nine gate-automation lines, including LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls, so if a Linear operator is what you have, that is what we work on.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

  • The gate sags on the latch end and drags the driveway. The hinge-side welds or the gate frame itself have begun to fatigue. In Waxahachie’s gumbo soil, posts move seasonally, and a gate that was hung square in 2015 can be half an inch out of plane now. The operator keeps pushing, but the metal is carrying a bind it was never built for.
  • The gate swings a few inches past the normal stop. The mechanical stop, or the bracket it mounts to, has broken loose. Linear operators rely on the physical stops to end travel; when the stop weld cracks, the arm over-travels on every cycle, which damages the operator gearbox over time.
  • You can hear metal pop or creak when the gate moves. That pop is a cracked weld shifting under load, not the operator complaining. A clean weld under tension should be silent. The creak you hear is the crack opening and closing with every cycle, which means the gate is still working, but the weld has already failed and the remaining metal is doing the job.
  • The operator motor runs but the gate hesitates, then jerks forward. A seized or binding hinge bracket is forcing the Linear operator to push harder than its torque rating. Linear’s boards are designed to shut down on over-current eventually, but before they do, the resistance is grinding the gears down and drawing more amps than the power supply should deliver.
  • The gate is harder to push in manual mode than it used to be. This is the honest test: release the operator and push the gate by hand. If it is stiff or catches, the problem is not the motor. It is the metalwork the motor is working against, and no new Linear control board will fix it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here is what we typically see in Waxahachie for Linear-related welding and fabrication:

Work Performed Typical Installed Range
Hinge bracket fabrication and re-weld (per bracket) $140 - $220
Gate frame crack repair and reinforcement plate $180 - $320
Slide-gate track remount and alignment $220 - $400
Custom stop fabrication or replacement bracket $120 - $260
Full gate reframe (large estate gate) $400 - $460+

The range is driven by how much of the old metal can be salvaged, post material (brick and stone take longer than steel), and whether we need to lift and re-hang the gate. Every estimate is a fixed price agreed before we touch the gate. That includes the labor, the fabricated part, and the weld consumables. No surprise line items. Victor Salinas grew up near the Ellis County Courthouse square, and he still prices jobs the way his father did at the welding shop: tell the customer the real number up front, then do the work right. Every welding and fabrication job is covered by our 90-Day Done Right Promise, in writing.

DIY or Call Us?

There are things you can check safely: release the operator and push the gate by hand, look at the hinge brackets with a flashlight for visible cracks, and check whether the post has pulled away from the gate frame. That gives you a good picture of what is wrong. What you should not do is attempt to weld a gate under tension, especially a gate with a Linear operator still connected. A gate leaf can weigh 400 pounds or more. If the weld lets go while you are under it, or the operator engages while your hand is on a bracket, the injury is permanent and fast. Springs, pinch points, and loaded frames do not give second chances.

If the gate is sagging but still running, call us at (936) 226-3481. We will tell you honestly whether it is a $180 bracket or a $400 reframe, and we will show you the failed weld before we touch it.
